Hi, I’m Stephanie Moir, Mom, Therapist and Coach.
Why Serene Mind Neuro + Wellness
This work is personal to me.
There is a version of me that I think about often.
She was trying so hard to do everything right.
She was learning. Researching. Asking questions. Trying new things. Looking for answers. Trying to understand why her body sometimes didn't cooperate with what her mind was telling it to do.
And, if I'm being honest, she was tired.
Not just physically tired.
Tired of trying to figure it all out.
Tired of wondering if there was something she was missing.
Tired of being told, in one way or another, to try harder.
My own health journey changed the way I see wellness.
It changed the way I see the body.
And it changed the questions I ask.
I Know What It's Like to Want Answers
As a therapist, I've spent years sitting across from people who are hurting and trying to make sense of their lives.
I've watched people understand their anxiety and still feel anxious.
I've watched people understand their trauma and still feel their body respond as though the danger is right there.
I've watched people know exactly what they should be doing and still feel completely overwhelmed by the thought of doing one more thing.
And then I began experiencing some of those questions in my own life.
My health journey taught me that sometimes your body can become its own mystery.
You can be doing everything you can think of and still wonder,
“Why don't I feel better?”
That question can be lonely.
Especially when you are the person everyone else comes to for answers.
It taught me humility.
It taught me patience.
And, perhaps most importantly, it taught me to listen differently.
Then I Became a Mom
And motherhood opened another door.
My children are neurodivergent, and parenting them has changed the way I understand behavior, emotions, learning, overwhelm, and the nervous system.
There have been moments when I've looked at one of my children and realized that what might look like defiance, frustration, distraction, a big reaction, or simply “too much” from the outside may actually be a child communicating that something inside feels overwhelming.
That realization has changed my response to them.
Because when you love your child deeply, you don't want to spend your life asking,
“How do I make you fit?”
You start asking,
“How can I understand you better?”
“What are you experiencing that I can't see?”
“What would help you feel safe enough to be yourself?”
And sometimes you realize those questions apply to us as adults, too.
Maybe We Were Never Meant to be Fixed
I think about this a lot.
We live in a world that is constantly telling us how to improve ourselves.
Sleep better.
Eat better.
Exercise more.
Be more productive.
Be calmer.
Regulate your nervous system.
Become your best self.
Track this.
Optimize that.
Do more.
Be more.
And somewhere along the way, wellness can become another place where we feel like we're failing.
I know that feeling.
I've felt the pressure to figure it out.
I've felt the frustration of wanting my body to cooperate.
I've felt the exhaustion of searching for answers.
And I've learned that sometimes the most compassionate thing we can do isn't to push harder.
Sometimes it's to stop.
To listen.
To get curious.
To ask a different question.
That's Where Serene Mind Neuro + Wellness Began
I wanted to create the kind of space I would want to walk into.
A space that felt warm.
Not intimidating.
Not judgmental.
Not another place where I would be handed a list of things I needed to do better.
I wanted a place where someone could say,
“I don't know what's going on with me.”
And instead of feeling like they had failed, they could hear:
“That's okay. Let's get curious together.”
That's what I hope Serene Mind Neuro + Wellness can be.
A place to explore the connection between the brain, body, nervous system, emotions, and everyday life.
A place where neurofeedback, nervous-system wellness, somatic approaches, and whole-person wellness can be explored thoughtfully and compassionately.
Not because there is something wrong with you.
But because you are worth understanding.
What My Own Journey Has Taught Me
I don't have everything figured out.
I don't think anyone does.
And I don't think being a therapist, a mom, or a wellness professional means you stop being human.
My own experiences have made me more comfortable with uncertainty.
More compassionate toward bodies that don't always behave predictably.
More curious about the nervous system.
More aware of how much our environments matter.
And much more willing to ask,
“What if there is another way?”
That question has stayed with me.
For the Mom Who Is Tired of Trying to Figure It All Out
I think especially about moms.
Because I've been there.
The constant researching.
The appointments.
The questions.
The feeling that you should have noticed something sooner.
The wondering whether you're doing enough.
The desire to help your child while also trying to hold everything else together.
And sometimes, quietly, wondering:
“Who is taking care of me?”
I want this space to be for you, too. You and your child matter.
You don't have to come in with a perfectly organized story or plan.
You don't have to know whether you need neurofeedback, nervous-system support, somatic work, or something else entirely.
You can come in curious.
You can ask questions.
You can take your time.
We are here to embrace the messy.
And For the Person Who Has Been Trying So Hard
Maybe you've spent years being told that you're too sensitive, too emotional, too distracted, too anxious, too overwhelmed, or simply “too much.”
Maybe you've become very good at functioning while quietly feeling exhausted.
Maybe your mind understands everything, but your body hasn't gotten the message.
Maybe you're simply ready to understand yourself a little differently.
Whatever brought you here, I hope you know this:
You don't have to fix yourself before you deserve support.
You don't have to become a better version of yourself to be worthy of care.
And you don't have to try harder just because something isn't working.
Sometimes we need a different way of listening.
Why This Matters to Me
Serene Mind Neuro + Wellness isn't just another business I created.
It grew out of years of being a therapist.
Out of being a mom.
Out of loving children whose brains experience the world differently.
Out of my own health journey and countless moments of uncertainty.
Out of meaningful conversations with people who were trying so hard to understand themselves and their bodies.
And out of a growing belief that maybe wellness doesn't have to be about fixing what is wrong.
Maybe it can also be about understanding what is already there.
Listening more closely.
Creating more space. And inviting curiosity.
And learning to work with ourselves instead of constantly working against ourselves.
That's the kind of space I want to create here.
For women.
For children and teens.
For families.
For anyone who is curious about their brain, body, and nervous system.
And, honestly, for people like me who have spent a lot of time searching for answers.
You don't have to have all the answers before you begin.
You can simply begin with curiosity.
With warmth,
